Welcome to Fitness Fads

Surfer waveStay away from fitness fads!

A message from Fernando Solis.

Personal Trainer, Sports and Soccer Coach.

The fitness industry is renowned for creating an endless supply of latest trends and fads.

Whether its a rapid weight loss diet, super slimming piece of equipment or miracle supplement, my advice is keep clear of it!

There is no short cut or quick fix when it comes to health and fitness. We are advocates of finding solutions for clients that will result in long term benefits for them. This requires implementing goal setting and time management skills and correctly devising a lifestyle plan to suit each individual, which means considering not only exercise and nutrition but work, family and other personal interests.

Let us look at some rapid weight loss diets that revolve around soup, meal replacement shakes and lemon flavored concoctions. These dieting techniques are extremely unsustainable, unpractical and are nothing more than a short term solution.

Extreme calorie reduction can shock the body into starvation mode and have a negative affect on efficient body function. Muscle tissue depletes, metabolism is slowed and organ function is adversely affected and these tools are vital in assisting our bodies in burning fat.

Hunger and mood swings can also be experienced and accompanying low energy levels will hamper any attempts to effectively exercise. None of the side effects produced by these diets promote positive and sustained weight management.

Another weight loss method is home delivered portion controlled meals and what concerns me most about this is that the majority of advertisements target a rather young demographic. Although the lesser of the evils I don not believe it teaches the upcoming generation about proper diet management or about the food they consume.

Eating well is not necessarily time consuming and you would have a serious lifestyle problem if you do not even have time to buy groceries.

When it comes to exercise equipment the story is just as bad. There are dozens of little contraptions that claim to be the latest way to trim waist lines and get you ripped in no time. Some are beneficial and can help you achieve your goals but only when accompanied with correct diet and complimented with a complete exercise program.

When it comes to achieving your goals I will simply say this - there is no rapid miracle solution. It requires commitment, a positive attitude and a little sacrifice along the way.

Motivation can be a hurdle for some and in those instances a gym environment or personal trainer can greatly benefit you.
The guidance, knowledge and support fitness professionals offer is invaluable and by employing their expertise you can create an ideal platform to launch your long term well being and happiness. No matter your situation there is health and fitness program out there to get you to your goal!
